You know if there’s anything that includes food and travel, I’m always first on the list. So, when I was invited to cook at Taste of Dubai, you can only imagine how excited I was! This food festival is one of the biggest in the UAE and an event I’ve been following for years – so I was super stoked at the invitation.

I think what made the trip special was staying at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Royal Residence. The level of hospitality and excellent service was truly out of this world. Not only did I have the warmest welcome but I was also treated like a queen. I also got an opportunity to have a special treat at the Talise Ottoman Spa, which I’m told is the largest award-winning spa in the Middle East – need I say more?

It was my first time having the hammam treatment, which is quite popular I believe. Man alive, that was one of the most interesting experiences of my life. It’s quite intimate; a lot of water involved and scrubbing but very therapeutic – not your average kind of spa treatment but one that I thoroughly enjoyed!

To top it off, I got to visit the Emirates Flight Catering facility; now that is one very well-run oil machine. The amount of passion, dedication, and love for this brand is tangible on arrival. I was hosted by Senior Vice President, Joost Heymeijer, and his team in the business and first-class catering facility. Now, if you know me you know I LOVE flying Emirates – they are the first choice always when I travel and to go behind the scenes of something I love was just mind-blowing. It’s really made me appreciate flying Emirates and flying better. I love that as much as it’s such a huge company, they tap into keeping the chefs creative and innovative about their offering and making our flying experience special every time, whether you are flying first, business or economy.

Dubai was honestly just an absolute treat. I also visited the Nespresso office for a coffee appreciation session – special, right?  I love working with brands that I believe in and those that work hard towards giving back. The Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality programme is something that really touched me and resonated with my heart. Every time you have a cup of Nespresso, it goes further than what you think – it’s not just a cup of beautiful aromatic coffee but it contributes to communities where these incredible beans are sourced and farmed. I also discovered my favourite blend being the Ethiopia blend… Aahhhhhh, just decadently gorgeous! It’s almost like they created it thinking of my palate – probably not – but sounds nice to say.

This wasn’t my first time to Dubai and definitely not my last, but a destination that has allowed me to discover different facets about it every time I’ve been there.

So, I think it’s safe to say, see you VERY soon, Dubai!
